Dry Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is quite famous nowadays in modern civilization of physiotherapy. Its growing popularity not only in western country also in eastern countries. It is widely used in sports injuries. This technique is used in physiotherapy clinics all areas the world. Stating from eliminating scar tissues to cleanse the body through the organs. The mechanism behind cupping therapy involves creating partial suction under cups placed over targeted areas through mechanical pumps .the cups are placed for about 5 to 15 minutes.

Cupping therapy is performed through various ways that includes dry cupping therapy, wet cupping therapy, cold cupping therapy, flash cupping therapy. However most commonly performed among all is Dry Cupping therapy. The power of the suction in process also categorise it’s in other types that includes light, medium and strong cupping therapy.

There are also various types of material placed inside cups i.e., herbal products, water, ozone, needle and magnetic cupping therapy. In the process of Dry Cupping a small area of low air pressure is created. There are various types of cups with different shapes are available ranging sizes from 1 to 3 inches. Most commonly used are plastic and gloves cups as compared to horn, pottery, bronze and bamboo cups used earlier.

In dry cupping the vacuum inside the cup is created with a mechanical suction pumps through a valve located at the top of cup. Cups are usually used on softer tissues so that it holds the skin firmer. Cups are used alone or along with needles under cups. Skin may be lubricated. Skin marks are left after the cups, red marks disappears quickly as compared to deep red marks. Pain while treatment is not felt in major cases.
